Loss Control Standard 2

LCS #2 – Responsibility for Loss Control

Requirement: Designate a management level person with the responsibility and authority to implement Loss Control programs.

Measure of Compliance: Annually, submit form verifying continual compliance with requirements by the end of June.

Intent: By empowering an individual with the authority to be responsible for Safety and Risk Management, a focused effort can be made by your entity to identify, prioritize and control risks. The choosing of this person is critical to the success of your program.

Guidance

PennPRIME refers to the Safety/Risk Management Designee as the “SRM Contact.” The person designated must have “responsible for safety and risk management” formally written into their job description, or similar wording. In the absence of a job description, it is acceptable to have a resolution designating this person, by title only, as “responsible for safety and risk management.”

Either the job description or the resolution must be on file with PennPRIME. You do not need to have both.

SRM Contact Responsibilities

  • Maintaining continual compliance to the Loss Control Standards and implementing new requirements by the deadline.
  • Ensuring that all policies, procedures, and paperwork associated with the Loss Control Standards are filed in a manner that can be retrieved immediately upon request.
  • Reading all communications associated with the Loss Control Standards and responding by the deadline.
  • Contacting PennPRIME for assistance to allow adequate time for PennPRIME to provide the requested help.
  • Communicating any changes to contact information or changes to status as the Safety/Risk Management Contact in a timely manner to PennPRIME.
